1/2This year, once again on the eve of October 30—the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Political Repression—we are holding the “Return of Names” event. This year again, on October 29, we will read out, one by one, the names and stories of people who suffered repression—those who were killed or sent to camps. People of various nationalities—Russians, Ukrainians, Germans, and Belarusians.
We also remember the current political prisoners of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus; we read their letters and share their stories.
Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Soviet Terror.
On October 29, we remember the millions of people repressed by the Soviet dictatorship. On this Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Soviet Terror, we read out their names—names that both the old and new regimes are trying to forget in order to erase and justify the events of the past and allow them to happen again.
What You Can Do.
You can come and read a few names. We’ll prepare a list—but you can also come and read your own names, those of your relatives or loved ones, or other people who are important to you. We can help you find names to read.
